The spring session of the CPM: anti-crisis measures and anti-crisis collection
Exhibition Collection Premiere Moscow took place in difficult economic conditions. The number of exhibitors has decreased by almost half compared to the previous season. However, on the exhibition working atmosphere remained. The four-day fashion marathon once again demonstrated the high interest of foreign manufacturers in the Russian market. What was the most visible indication of the difficult economic conditions? Reducing the number of visitors on the stands. Almost complete absence of decoration for the stand. At the show CPM Selected CPM the most practical model were presented that can be worn in the feast, and in the world. But it was impossible not to notice the overall decrease in brightness of color. On the catwalks were a lot of black and dark gray kits. As rightly noted economist and historian of fashion, in times of crisis women’s skirt tends upward, unwittingly emphasizing the need to reduce the consumption of fabric, and hair length becomes shorter. That is what we saw on the show.
Acquaintance with the collections in the halls reinforced this trend. Surprisingly, as a distributor of Italian and Spanish famous brands managed to bring things that were like two drops of water like cheap Turkish mass market. Were marked by many collections last season, who posed as a head due to outdated colors: lemon, turquoise, emerald. Silhouette cocoon, out of fashion, was very fond for our distributors (Jupiter in Cancer: June 2013-July 2014). It looks like they will offer it to us a few more seasons. At the same time, you can easily identify trend colors: dark blue, burgundy (Saturn in Sagittarius: December 2014-December 2017), as well as topical this season, honey, pastel and gold (Jupiter in Leo: July 2014-August 2015). But if in the halls was not enough fashion, the seminar unfolded heated debate. Most attention attracted purely practical reports on merchandising, staff motivation, etc. «We expect to reduce the export of branded women’s clothing in the price range is above average by 15-20%, male - 25-30%, underwear - 30-40%,» - said the president of the European Council exporters of clothing and textiles Reinhard Depfer on Russian Fashion Retail Forum. Russian experts were called at all other figures, even more pessimistic. How to survive during the crisis? Answers to these questions could be heard in the reports. This is downsizing, reducing advertising costs, motivation of personnel, assortment optimization. Now it remains to see how these recommendations will be implemented in practice.
